The objective: dust emissions reduction
In connection with a European standard (EN 303/5) that recently entered into force, to get preferential treatment in obtaining certain incentives, solid biomass boilers must be certified by an accredited third-party body and must at least obtain the results defined in the standard for a variety of parameters, including:
Regarding the first two arguments, the manufacturer itself has addressed the problem, resolving it with appropriate changes to the boiler’s design and engineering.
The third problem, namely that of emissions, has been addressed in partnership with Tecnosida®. Specifically, the pollutant to be treated was in the form of dust, of varying grain size, resulting from the combustion of pellets.
Tecnosida®solution: partnership project and Turbovortex® multicyclone
Tecnosida® proposed the development of a project in partnership, in which information would be shared in order to design and produce a dedicated solution for a specific boiler that the customer intended to certify, complete with the required technical solutions.
The main project phases were:
- Assessment of the technical situation and initial analytical verification;
- Presentation of an overview of suitable solutions with budgetary quote;
- Selection and adaptation of the solution together with the customer;
- Physical test of the solution with the generator to be certified;
- Final tuning;
- Certification of the generator, together with the Turbovortex® multicyclone, at the accredited third-party body.
The partnership gave positive results, passing the tests at the third-party accredited body and obtaining class V certification for the generator.
