Application in metal grinding line
Our target: explosive dust control
The company contacted Tecnosida® and presented a problem of high dust production on a grinding line of disused appliances, from which recyclable components were recovered. Particularly, it was noted the presence of aluminum dust, a potentially explosive element.
The customer also requested the modification of the pneumatic conveyor system for previously selected materials (aluminum, copper and brass), with the aim of further separating and recovering these products.
The ATEX directive
ATEX is the conventional name of the European Union 2014/34/EC directive that regulates equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, derived from the words ATmosphères and EXplosibles.
Like most of the regulations relating to protection from explosion, the directive distinguishes the risk according to the nature of the hazardous product, and according to the product’s ignition temperature.
Tecnosida® solution: extraction plant and bag filter (ATEX)
Following a technical inspection and a specific design, Tecnosida® proposed a system based on the following equipments:
- Local air suction at various points, appropriately chosen in the whole production process;
- Installation of cyclonic separators, to separate and recover the metal dust in the treated airflow;
- The installation of a DUSTdown® FMA/180 filter, certified for use with explosive dusts (ATEX).
